Children & Young Peoples Apprenticeship at Rathbone Training

Course description

Rathbone Training offers Apprenticeships (level 2) and Advanced Apprenticeships (level 3) in Children & Young Peoples Workforce.

Working with children and young people from birth to five years old is inspiring and important work. It can also be a lot of fun.

This apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to work safely with children in a variety of settings.

Course content

This course covers children’s physical development, how they need to be looked after, the law and safeguarding. You’ll also learn how to help them develop their social and practical skills.

You’ll learn on the job from experienced work colleagues. There may also be some training away from the workplace.

Entry requirements

If you’re aged 16-24 you can join. You don’t need any formal qualifications, but you will need to take a basic skills test if you don’t have GCSEs in English and Maths to join the level 2 childcare programme. If you want to do a level 3 you may need to have GCSE's in English and Maths grades A-C (but do get in touch even if you don't, as this is sometimes negotiable).

By law, you must have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks (previously CRB) before you can work with children. We’ll sort this out for you.
