Hospitality Services Intermediate Apprenticeships at Grimsby Institute

Course description

This Apprenticeship covers a range of careers within one of the largest areas in the country.

Hospitality covers work in hotels, restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars. It includes well-known chains and independent businesses of all sizes.

You might find yourself working in hospitality services where your duties could include serving customers, preparing and serving food and drinks or cleaning and preparing rooms.

Employers will be looking to see that you are keen to work as part of a team, have a ‘can do’ attitude and have high standards of personal hygiene.

You will have to have good basic communication skills and be willing to work shifts, often outside traditional working hours.

Entry requirements

Most occupations require a minimum of grade C in English, Maths and ICT, although some only require a minimum of grade D.

Some occupations within the Engineering sector will require Science at a minimum of grade C.

A Vocational Assessment may have to be taken and passed for some Apprenticeships before acceptance onto the programme.

Assessment

Training is delivered on a day release basis at the Institute where a Tutor will monitor
your progress. You will be allocated an Assessor who will conduct assessments in the
workplace.
