Course description

Designed specifically to launch you into a career in fitness, successful completion of this course will provide you with a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification as well as industry qualifications in circuit training and exercise for children. With access to state-of-the-art facilities and industry experienced tutors, this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to design and deliver tailored fitness programmes that are both safe and effective. You will also gain skills in customer service, lifestyle management and employability.

Course content

here are 11 mandatory modules on this course. You will also complete 3 practical pairings

Mandatory study units include:
– Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
– Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment
– Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health
– Supporting Clients who take part in Exercise and Physical Activity
– Understanding Employment Rights and Responsibilities
– Understanding the Active Leisure and Learning Sector
– Understanding the Employing Organisation
– Developing Self
– Principles of Customer Service
– Food Groups and Digestion
– Diet and Nutrition for Healthy Living

Practical study units include:
-Gym Based Exercise Instructor
-Physical Activity for Children Instructor
-Circuit Training Instructor

Assessment

You will be assessed by:
-2 x CYQ multiple choice Theory Paper
-Worksheets
-Task sheets
-Action plan
-Presentation
-Session plans
-Practical assessments (live and DVD)

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course you will achieve a Level 2
Qualification – Diploma in Health, Fitness & Exercise Instruction and receive 20 REPs CPD points. After completing the Level 2 course, you may progress onto a number of other industry recognised courses:
– Level 3 Certificate / Diploma in Personal Training
– Level 3 Award in Adapting Exercise for Independently Active, Older People
– Level 3 Award in Programming and Supervising Exercise with Disabled
Clients
– Level 3 Award in Adapting Exercise for Ante and Post Natal Clients
– Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral
