Course description

History is a challenging subject which requires students to use evidence, to research, organize and articulate their findings in a coherent written form.  History challenges students to form their own conclusions from the available evidence – independent learners are most welcome and will benefit from the depth and breadth of the content that can be accessed through History.

·         Paper 2, The USA, c1920–55: boom, bust and recovery

 

Year 2 (A Level)

·         Paper 1, Britain transformed, 1918–97 74

·         Paper 2, The USA, c1920–55: boom, bust and recovery

·         Paper 3,The witch craze in Britain, Europe and North America, c1580–c1750

 

Coursework: The USA and Depression

Entry requirements

  • 5 GCSEs A*-C
  • Grade 5 in English Language or Literature
  • B grade in History

Assessment

Coursework: The USA and Depression is worth 20% of the overall grade.

 

There are three examination papers worth 80% of the overall grade. These assess the students’ ability to form arguments with knowledge based essays, as well as source and interpretations analysis.
