Art and Design: Textiles A level at Burnley College
Art and Design: Textiles is an exciting and dynamic course for anyone with artistic aptitude and determination to explore students’ creative boundaries. The course provides an imaginative grounding in the development processes and techniques within Textiles.
The emphasis of the course will be focused on developing students’ creativity and research skills as well as their appreciation of Textiles. The versatility required when working as a Textile Artist is reflected in the course, where students will learn to work with a huge range of materials and textures.
During the course students will produce a Personal Study. This will be presented in both written and visual form and will be based on an art and design theme: the theme of the study could be historical, philosophical, technical or psychological. In the A2 year of the course students will develop the skills learned during the AS year.
To take four AS Levels in Year 1 (leading to three or four A Levels in Year 2): At least six GCSEs at grades A to C, including both English and Maths. To take three AS Levels in Year 1 (leading to three A Levels in Year 2): At least five GCSEs at grades A to C, including both English and Maths. A minimum of grade B in GCSE Art and Design or Textiles.
This course can prepare students for university study and subsequently careers in areas such as: Fashion and Clothing, Textiles, Interior Design, Dyeing and Colour Technology and Fashion and Textile Buying.
