Music at BARR BEACON SCHOOL

Course description

What the subject is about: Music Technology recognises that we live in an age of cultural diversity and the Areas of Study cover a wide range of music: classical, world, popular and jazz. Each area is seen within a broader cultural and historical context. This course has practical music technology at the heart of every component. Students will develop sequencing skills and learn to compose and arrange using the latest technology. The course is designed to allow students to study music in an integrated way with the opportunity to specialise. It provides the opportunity to study music as a practical, intellectual and creative subject with specialist pathways in performing, and composing. Amongst other things, Students will study sequencing, recording, arranging and improvising. By the end of the course students will not only be able to listen and analyse compositions, but will also have the skills to produce their own music. Students ICT skills will be much in demand
