Hairdressing Level 3 Apprenticeship at Swindon College

Course description

The Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable for hairdressers who wish to enhance their styling and technical skills, advance their qualifications and who wish to take on more Salon Management responsibility. 
The course covers the following areas; Ensure Own Actions Reduce Risks to Health & Safety, Promote Additional Products or Services to Clients, Provide Hairdressing Consultation Services, Create a Variety of Looks by Using a Combination of Cutting Techniques, Develop and Enhance your Creative Hairdressing Skills, Style and Dress Long Hair, Provide Colour Correction Services, Colour Hair Using a Variety of Techniques.

Entry requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ who are employed in a suitable role and hold GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade D in English and Maths. 
Please note that funding restrictions may apply to Apprentices aged 19+. Also, Apprenticeship funding is currently not available for those who have a degree, HNC, HND or equivalent Level 4 or above qualification. This means you as the Apprentice would be liable for the full fees of the course.

Assessment

The Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) set the standards of hairdressing NVQ’s. Assessment is continuous throughout the course and is carried out in the workplace and at college. Evidence for your qualification is gained through observation of work, assignments, photographic evidence and written exams.

Future opportunities

Progression to the Advanced Apprenticeship is subject to trade test. This course provides a good basis for careers in; Technician Work for a Manufacturing Company, Media Work, Salon Management, Teaching Certificate for a career as a College Lecturer or Trainer.
