Media Studies at ALDRIDGE SCHOOL - A SCIENCE COLLEGE

Course description

This stimulating and challenging course enables pupils to develop more awareness of the media world which is all around us. It combines a theoretical and analytical study of the media with the practical creation of a variety of media texts. During the course pupils will study a combination of units on television, film, radio, popular music, newspaper, magazines and comics. The assessment method is as follows: Coursework 50%, Section A: 3 assignments of 700-800 words, Section B: Practical production and supporting account, Examination 50%, 4 tasks on a set topic There will be two tiers of entry, Higher and Foundation, but decisions will not be made on tiers of entry until towards the end of the course, to ensure that every pupil has the chance to achieve his or her potential.
