Economics at Little Heath School

Course description

Economics is different from almost everything you will have studied before. It brings together a whole range of different skills – writing essays, analysing numerical data, interpreting articles and evaluating ideas. Economics combines very well with almost all other subjects, ranging from Mathematics and Physics to History and Geography where there are a range of issues in common. If you are interested in the reasons for and the effects of the recent upheavals in the world economy, then this is the subject for you.

Entry requirements

You will need a range of good Grade A*-C GCSE passes, including Mathematics and English, preferably at Grade B. A commitment to work hard and an interest in the world around you are also essential.You will be expected to read newspapers and watch the news.You will be encouraged to subscribe to a magazine specifically aimed at Sixth Form economists such as ‘Economics Today’.
