Politics A Level at Twynham School

Course description

Studying Government and Politics at Advanced Level will give you a fascinating insight into power. Politics is concerned with understanding where power lies in society and it enables you to better understand the world that we live in.

At AS-Level, students will acquire an understanding of how Britain is governed, studying the nature of democracy and the relationship between the government and the people. Students will also gain an understanding of the major governmental processes and institutions of the UK.

We now live in an increasingly globalised world and that is reflected in our study at A2. Students will study global political structures, considering global governance and the changing world order. Students will also study global political issues, including the ‘war on terror’, global poverty, human rights and the environment.

The study of politics will equip students with knowledge that is relevant to the world that they live in as well as the ability to think critically, evaluate information and communicate their ideas effectively.
