Level 2 Women’s and Men’s Hairdressing at Newton Rigg College
Hairdressing is a fast moving fashion orientated business, so you need to be creative and have artistic flair, enjoy meeting people, have a natural aptitude and plenty of energy.
You will learn how to promote retail sales to your clients. We will also make sure that you have the skills to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients and suppliers along with the number skills to run a business successfully.
• Advising and consulting with clients • Giving customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation • Shampooing, conditioning and treating the hair and scalp • Changing hair colour • The art of dressing • Cut hair using basic techniques for men and women • Create a theme based image • Health and safety • Promoting additional services or products to customers • Perming and neutralising hair • Work related experience or placement • English and maths
All our students have the exciting opportunity to visit The Alternative Hair Show and Salon International in London, Paris Wella Professionals, Clothes Show, Matrix session styling and colour collections, National Competitions and Professional Hairdressing Live. Alternative enrichment activities may include visits to Centre Parcs, Iceland, Andorra and Lavender Farm.
Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade E or above including Maths and English (with Science desirable). Alternatively a suitable level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1
