Media Studies A level at Edgbarrow School
Students will engage in debates surrounding the media including issues raised by media ownership, within the music industry, press regulation and theoretical concepts like post-modernism
AS Level units
Unit 1 - Foundation Portfolio in Media (Coursework), 25% of A Level.
Unit 2 - Key Media Concepts (Exam), 25% of A Level.
Unit 3 - Advanced Portfolio in Media (Coursework), 25% of A Level.
Unit 4 - Critical Perspectives in Media (Exam), 25% of A Level.
Students must gain at least a grade B in GCSE English Literature and at least a grade C in English Language.
Media A Level is generally recognised as an entry qualification for university courses (except specialist Science based courses) as well as the obvious vocational careers. Students wanting to pursue a media related degree or vocational training will find this course useful.
