Independent Living - Looking after Yourself & Your Home Entry 1 Certificate at Amersham and Wycombe College

Course description

This course is suitable for school leavers and adults with learning difficulty and/or disabilities who wish to progress their learning to become more independent in their home life.

 

Course content

The course will prepare you for greater participation at home or in the community. If you wish to continue at College there is the opportunity to progress on to Entry Level 2 to undertake the Diploma in Independent Living or the Certificate in Employability and Work Skills.

 

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. All learners are invited to take part in an interview where we can discuss your learning aim and learning support needs.

Assessment

To achieve the certificate at Entry Level 1 you will need to achieve a min 15 credits, an award in PSD and progress in English and Maths.

Financial information

The Home Management, Healthy Eating and Independent Living units will cover skills involved in shopping and cooking. Cooking will cost up to £5 each week that this takes place. Visits into the community are flexible but can include going out for a meal with the group. There is the opportunity to assist with the running of the 'Allsorts' kiosk, a tuck shop run by our Foundation Studies learners. Aprons for this cost £12.

The course will prepare you for greater participation at home or in the community. If you wish to continue at College there is the opportunity to progress on to Entry Level 2 to undertake the Diploma in Independent Living or the Certificate in Employability and Work Skills.
