Mathematics A Level at Caldew School

Course description

Students are taught through a mixture of whole class teaching, group work and individual work. Independent study between lessons is vital to practice and consolidate new skills. Regular assignments and assessments are set to give students practice at exam standard questions.

Year 12/AS

C1: Core Maths 1

C2: Core Maths 2

S1: Statistics 1


Year 13/A2

C3: Core Maths 3

C4: Core Maths 4

D1: Decision Maths 1

There is no coursework requirement.

Entry requirements

Grade A or A* at Maths GCSE is recommended and you must also opt for the A Level Maths course.


Each unit will be individually assessed at grades A - E and the overall grade will be determined by combining these results.

Future opportunities

Students with higher order mathematical skills are widely sought in many career areas and Higher Education courses.
