Latin A Level at Maria Fidelis Sixth Form

Course description

Choosing Latin A level will allow you to unlock the literature, culture and philosophy of the past.

Not only will you explore scandalous poetry which had its author exiled for being so controversial, you will also take sides in a murder case which had deadly implications for the lawyers involved and changed the course of the entire Roman Republic.

Pupils will have the opportunity to study Latin authors in the original and to translate stories from thousands of years ago.

It is a great subject not only for those interested in languages and linguistics, but those more mathematically and scientifically inclined as it requires students to use logical processes to work out how to translate passages.
