Information Technology BTEC at Ormiston Park Academy
This course is will allow you to develop your skills across a variety of IT areas including computer systems. IT underpins every career in the world and by you studying this qualification you are pitching yourself ahead of the game in your skill set. You will explore a wide range of theoretical and real life work scenarios to apply your new found skills to create solutions to drive productivity and creativity in the workplace.
IT has a wide range of areas to explore during your studies, where you will look at computer and information systems, E-Commerce solutions, web design and development, digital graphics and multimedia design. You will develop skills in communicating in the IT industry, organisation of systems and routers and network management.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above. There are no specific entry criteria for this qualification, although possessing a GCSE or BTEC in ICT would be advantageous.
You will be taught in a theoretical and practical setting and assessed via practical, written and online assignments.
Your successes in this subject can lead to you studying a wide range of degree courses at university such as network technology or computer games design. Higher level apprenticeships are very well established and can allow you to continue your learning through employment. You will be suitable for careers that require high level IT skills but they will also lay a solid foundation for any work where ICT plays an important role.
Opportunities lie to support the IT teaching department working with students in Years 7-11 and the IT Systems department in the Academy. OPA will support IT students using their newly learned and developed skills in and around the building to support the infrastructure. OPA6 will assist you in arranging for a work placement position within local businesses.
