Course description

The History GCSE helps pupils understand events in the past which have shaped the worl we live in and the people we are today.  Pupils will study three units which are based around Modern 20th Century History including topics like Nazi Germany, Superpower Relations, The Cold War and Britain at War.

Unit 1: International Relations in the 20th Century

  • Written Exam 1 hour 45 minutes
  • 37.5% of total mark

Unit 2: 20th Century Depth Studies: America 1919 - 1941 and Germanyu 1919 - 1939

  • Written Exam 1 hour 45 minutes
  • 37.5% of total marl

Unit 3: Historical Enquiry - British History

  • Controlled Assessment (coursework)
  • 25% of total mark

Course content

 Pupils who opt to take History will follow a course leading to the OCR (Oxford and Cambridge) GCSE examination in Modern World History. The main part of the course is concerned with International Relations since the First World War.
