Media at Grimsby Institute
Entry Level and Level 1 in Creative Arts and Media includes aspects of
- Performing Arts
- Art and Design.
Success in this qualification will provide progression on to Level 2 in any of these subjects.
At Level 2 you will learn how to produce a variety of media products such as videos, photographs, magazines and web pages.
Following successful completion of Level 2 you may specialise at Level 3 in your chosen field.
Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual's previous experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process.
The following list offers a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry on to a particular level of a course.
Entry Level 3 Programmes
No formal entry qualifications but subject to approval from the Foundation Learning Assessment Team.
GCSEs grade E to G or equivalent, including Foundation Awards and Entry Level Certificates.
Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade D or above including Maths and English language OR Minimum of 4 GCSEs grade D or above including Maths and English language and relevant subject qualification OR Minimum of Level 1 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Maths at Level 1.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and English language OR Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and English language and relevant subject qualification OR Minimum of Level 2 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English language and Maths at level 2.
Former learners have gone on to have amazing careers, successfully working for the BBC at Radio Humberside and in TV at Look North, both in front and behind the camera. Some even go to work on long-running TV series like Emmerdale and even for Simon Cowell’s production company, SyCo.
Going to university can really help boost your chances of a high flying career and at the University Centre Grimsby (UCG) we have Media degree courses available in a wide range of relevant subjects. UCG graduates are currently working etc as before.
As part of our continuing ethos to put theories into practicew, e can offer learners opportunities to work with some of the top practitioners in the UK and also work very closely with the Institute’s local television station, Estuary TV.
