Art and Design (Fine Art) AS/A-Level at Shire Oak Academy

Course description

In Yr 12: AS students will complete a variety of set tasks throughout the year, culminating in one externally set exam duration of which is 10 hours.

In Yr 13: A2 students will complete a personal investigation. This will consist of a portfolio of practical work, alongside a related written study. This component represents 60% of the total marks for A2. Students will also sit an external set exam, which is 15 hours in duration. This section represents 40% of the final total A2 Mark.

Entry requirements

A good grade at GCSE level in Art and Design is usually required. Competence in basic design work and observation drawing is important.

Future opportunities

Studying A level Art can equip students for opportunities leading to a variety of artistic university courses.
