ICT - A-Level at Pendleton Sixth Form College

Course description

ICT is at the centre of everything you do from how you interact with your friends, how you learn, how you shop and how you access entertainment . This course will introduce you to the fundementals of ICT, providing a foundation to extend your knowledge of this existing area.

Course content

In the first year, you will look at the following:

  • Information, systems and the use of ICT in a business
  • You will plan, design, build and test a spreadsheet modelling project

In the second year of the course, you will study:

  • ICT sytems, applications and implications
  • You will plan, design and build a relational database project

You will be taught by enthusiastic and well-qualified teachers in fully equipped computer suites. Lessons will include a combination of lectures, individual study and practical work.

Entry requirements

You would be expected to have 3 GCSE grades B/5s and 3 GCSE grades C/4s.


This is an OCR level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and you will be assessed purely by practical assessments with no formal examinations

Financial information

All full-time courses are free to 16-18 year olds who are an EU citizen.

Future opportunities

Many people see ICT as an essential qualification for employment. An AS or A-Level in ICT allows progression to a wide range of degree courses, including, related degrees or higher level apprenticeship in information and communications technology.
