Film Studies AS A2 at Northampton School for Girls

Course description

Film studies is a course which focuses on a range of aspects linked to film production: narrative structure and cinematography, different genres of film, financial and business concerns linked to studio production and different 'national' cinemas.

Course content

What you will doYou will: ·        watch a range of films·        study several films in close detail·        discuss different approaches to film production·        research the background to different studiosdevelop a scheme for your own short film (course work).

Entry requirements

Your qualifications should include a minimum of a grade C in English Language as well as the usual post-16 entry-level requirements for AS study. A good GCSE grade in an analytical subject like History or Sociology would be helpful.

Assessment

AS Level.  Unit I Coursework.  Unit II Two stimulus response questions (13/4 hours).  Unit III Comparitive essay; close study of one film.A2 Level. Unit IV Coursework.  Unit V Two essay responses.  Unit VI Three essay responses.
