Accounting A Level at Riverside College Halton

Course description

Accounting looks at how firms produce and use financial statements to help them in their decision-making processes.

Course content

The subject offers a broad foundation that investigates many different types of businesses. If you enjoy working with figures and would like to run your own business or have a well-paid job as an accountant, this is the course for you.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A - C or above (including English Language) and a minimum od 2 grade Bs, one of which shoudl be maths.


You will be required to pass examinations that focus upon data response and case study style questions. There is no coursework element to this course.

Future opportunities

You could progress to a professional qualification such as the AAT or CIMA qualifications or to a BA Honours degree in Accounting and Finance. Following this you could enter employment in a financial role within a company or you could train 'on the job' as a trainee accountant.
