Design & Technology: Product Design A-Level at Simon Balle All-through School

Course description

This course builds both the theoretical and creative aspects of Resistant Materials and Graphics. Students develop their capacity to design and make products using woods, metals and plastics. Students also learn to appreciate the relationship between design, materials, manufacturing, industrial processes and marketing.

Students have the opportunity to design and make a resistant materials product in both years of the full course. In both AS and A2 years, 60% of the marks derive from a piece of internally assessed coursework and 40% from an externally marked examination.
