Health and Social Care BTEC Introductory Diploma at Riverside College Halton

Course content

You will study 8 core units in order to achieve the Introductory Diploma. Units include: - Starting work in Health and Social Care - Working in Health and Social Care - Developing skills in Health and Social Care - Personal effectiveness You will also study a range of basic skills as part of the course. Basic Skills enables you to demonstrate employability in the workplace and they are a compulsory part of the course.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade E including English and 3 other core subjects.


Successful completion of the course is achieved by a variety of assessment methods including projects, essays and presentations. Of the 8 units, 2 are externally assessed.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto BTEC First Diploma in Caring or equivalent vocational courses.
