Sport BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Strode's College

Course description

This course provides you the skills and knowledge to start a career in the sports sector, with a specific focus on sports development, coaching and fitness. The qualification gives you an insight into the various different occupational routes you can take within the sector, helping you to progress in existing employment, or move on to further study.

Course content

This is an ideal course to study seven compulsory core units and twelve additional specialist units and participate in many lessons that are practical in design and relate clearly to theoretical concepts being assessed.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements for a Level 3 Pathway, including at least 4 A - C GCSEs grades plus a grade C in English Language or Maths GCSE or equivalent.


25% theory examination and 75% coursework. There is no formal assessment of sporting ability.

Future opportunities

Students can progress into a variety of careers including sports coaching, PE teaching, physiotherapy and in the fitness and leisure industries. Many students go on to study sport courses at university and some gain scholarships to American universities.
