A Level: Drama at JC6: Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre
Drama and Theatre Arts is a creative and stimulating course that explores and develops all aspects of the theatre: theatre practitioners, theatre companies, plays and contrasting styles and genres. It is complemented with a lively programme of theatre - in London's West End, Stratford's RSC, Curve in Leicester, and Birmingham Rep. - and students can expect to analyse a wide range of plays.
The course involves working collaboratively and creatively in practical work and using analytical and research skills in approaching written responses to play texts. The course encourages you to perform, analyse, discuss and research.
Consider Drama if:
- You enjoy performing, workshop-style lessons and debating and discussing ideas.
- You are keen to watch and reflect on live theatre.
- You want to develop your skills in analysing texts through study and performance.
- You are able to discuss and write about ideas in play texts.
- Grade 5 or above at GCSE Drama OR equivalent drama experience.
Practical performance and written examinations.
Drama A level combines well with other creative and expressive subjects such as Dance, Music, English or Media. It complements any sixth form studies, developing students' communication, performance and reflective skills.
It is essential study for anyone planning to go on to study at Drama school or on a Drama degree course. Drama also develops confidence to approach employers and universities and improve life skills.
