Film Studies A-Level at Childwall Sports & Science Academy

Course description

A-level Film Studies is designed to deepen students’ understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film. The specification explores the relationship between the film and the individual by exploring how films create meanings and produce response.

Students will study film from a variety of production contexts and experiences in a variety of viewing situations. Students will also engage in a wide range of different kinds of films, developing their skills. Additionally, the aesthetic and sensory qualities of film are emphasised as integral to study of the interaction between films and spectators.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 A*- C grades in at least 4 different GCSE subjects, including English and Maths
