Applied Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma at Warwickshire College Group
This course is designed to provide learners with underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills of the health and social care sectors. Providing a broad basis for further or higher education or for moving into employment within the sectors.
This new qualification will be built on a foundation of knowledge and understanding of practitioner roles and values, set within contemporary sector-specific contexts. The qualification with include breadth and depth of learning, including the underpinning of core values within the sectors.
In addition to the relationships between contemporary policies and service provision and the impact of financial challenges on the service provision in the UK. The qualification is designed to be delivered over two years and alongside other GCE A Levels.
This course is designed for learners to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for independent learning and development and a range of transferable skills including: problem solving, project based research, its development and presentation and the ability to apply learning in related health care, social care and early years contexts.
A minimum of 5 GCSE's achieved at grade 4 (C) or above to include English/English Language and Maths at grade 4 (C).
Offers subject to a satisfactory School Report.
Assessment for both Year 1 and Year 2 will be through coursework, controlled assessment and external examination.
WHAT CAREERS CAN I GO ON TO?
The students who are able to use the knowledge and experience gained from the course in their university applications. Health and Social Care students have gone onto study nursing, midwifery, teaching (all age ranges), social work, occupational therapy and other related courses at university. The new specification also gives students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding into areas of the justice system.WHAT FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE?
The qualification has elements of psychology, sociology and social policy that complement studies in humanities and related subjects. The WJEC Level 3 Diploma in health and Social Care qualification is designed for learning alongside other GCE A Levels to provide students with qualifications to access higher education, training or employment, such as a Degree (BA or BSc) in Health and Social Care, Adult Social Care, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Education studies etc. Or provide the understanding and skills to be able to consider employment within some aspects of health and social care sectors.
