Course description

Do you want to direct a live studio magazine broadcast, produce your own drama programme or experiment with photography and lens-based technology? How about trying your hand at script writing, animation or creating an app? If so, this is the course for you.

Our approach is lively and practical; you will get involved with the technology from day one and will also study the theories and debates surrounding the media.

You must have a real enthusiasm for television, video production and other aspects of the media and be motivated by the idea that you can develop a career somewhere in this exciting area.

Course content

You will use state-of-the-art equipment to explore the key aspects of audio-visual media including:

  • Animation
  • Digital Imaging
  • Digital Video Production
  • The Film and Television Industry
  • Photography
  • Single and Multi-Camera Techniques
  • Video Editing
  • Interactive Media

Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.

Entry requirements

Standard Level 3 entry requirements apply.

Assessment

60% Coursework, 40% external assignments.

Future opportunities

This course provides an excellent grounding if you want to study a Media-related Degree such as Media Production, Photography or Multimedia at university.
