BTEC National Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media at Altrincham College

Course description

Students will complete a number of engaging projects that are geared towards providing the relevant skills for a career in the Media Industry.  Students will learn and develop a broad range of media skills as well as increasing their understanding of the production processes involved.

Course content

Units Include: Web Design, Script-writing, Video Editing, Advertising, Stop-Motion Animation, Concept Art, Media Representations, Working in the Industry, Pre-production Techniques, Media Campaigns, Specialist Subject Investigation, Responding to a Commission

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Maths. If you completed a Creative and/or media-related course at Level 2 then you must have achieved a minimum of a grade C. A grade C GCSE or above in ICT would be an advantage but is not compulsory.

Assessment

This is a coursework based qualification so there is no exam. Units will be assessed through an ongoing-process throughout the 2 years. A 1 week work placement within the creative media sector, where students will apply their knowledge and skills in a professional environment is encouraged.

Future opportunities

Students can use this qualification to progress to university to study a higher education foundation degree, Higher National Diploma or other professional development programme. Some may enter a specialist area of employment.
