Unit 1 Introduction to Financial Accounting - Purposes of accounting - Accounting records: subsidiary books and ledger accounts - Verification of accounting records - Trading and profit and loss accounts and balance sheets including simple adjustments Unit 2 Financial and Management Accounting - Types of business organisation - Accounting concepts - Further aspects of the preparation of the final accounts & balance sheets of sole trading - Internal final accounts of limited companies - Ratio analysis and the assessment of business performance - Introduction to budgeting and budgetary control - Impact of ICT in accounting Assessment Unit 1 Introduction to Financial Accounting ACCN1 (1 hour 30 minutes) 50% of the AS - 25% of total A level mark Consists of four compulsory questions - each carrying a variable number of marks, each with a variable number of sub-questions. Unit 2 Financial and Management Accounting ACCN2 ( 1hour 30 minutes) 50% of the AS -25% of the total A level mark Consists of four compulsory questions - each carrying a variable number of marks, with variable numbers of sub-questions.
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Accountancy, which could lead onto higher education in areas of finance, accounting, mathematics or more general higher education courses. With further training and qualifications, you could go into a job related to accounting such as an Accountant. You could also go straight into a job as AS GCE is a recognised qualification, which will help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
