Playwork Level 2 Diploma at People And Business Development Ltd

Course description

The Level 2 Diploma in Playwork is aimed at staff working directly with children and young people in a setting whose main purpose is to provide them with opportunities for freely chosen, self-directed play. These staff do not have full responsibility for the play environment but make a significant contribution to supporting play

Course content

You must achieve 61 credits from 12 mandatory units and a further 16 from the optional units. The mandatory units are:

- Playwork Principles
- The play environment n Supporting Children and Young People’s play
- Relationships in the play environment n Health and safety in the play environment
- Safeguarding and welfare in the play environment
- Developing own Playwork and Team Practice
- Support children and young people’s positive behaviour
- Contribute to the support of positive environments
- Reflective playwork practice
- Support relationships in the play environment
- Work with children and young people to create play spaces and support freely chosen self-directed play

Future opportunities

You can take additional optional units as professional development or progress to a Level 3 Diploma. Completing the qualifications could also lead to a role as a:

- Playworker
- Childminder
- Holiday representative/centre worker/ manager
- Leisure centre assistant or manager
- Play therapist n School lunchtime supervisor
- Youth and community worker
