What is the Edexcel BTEC ICT Course?
This is a new course that we are teaching at Plantsbrook. You will complete 6 units of work in total, 2 of which are mandatory units that Edexcel state you must complete. You will build a portfolio of evidence to meet each learning outcome in the course as it is 100% coursework. It will give you the knowledge and skills that you need to prepare for employment or progress to further and higher education.
How long will it take me to complete?
It will take the full 2 years to complete but after one year you will be able to claim the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate which is the equivalent to an AS.
What are they equivalent to?
The Edexcel Level 3 are equivalent to any GCE A-Level that you can take.
What grades can I get?
Distinction – A
Merit – C
Pass – E
How many UCAS points do I get?
Distinction *- 140
Distinction - 120
Merit – 80
Pass – 40
Do I get an AS in this subject?
You can get the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate with the following grades:
Anyone who received a Pass or above in OCR Nationals Level 2 and has 5 A-C grades at GCSE.
What work will I have to do?
You will complete 6 units of work, 2 are mandatory and listed below:
- Unit 1: Communication and Employability Skills for IT (M)
- Unit 2: Computer Systems (M)
Is there an exam?
NO! It’s 100% coursework.
How is the work marked?
Your teacher will mark your work and give you a grade, all your work is internally assessed.
