Government and Politics Edexcel Advanced GCE at Chiswick School
In Year 12 you will study People and Politics including topics on How Democratic is the UK?, Human Rights: Do we need them? Are protests good for Democracy? Governing the UK will include topics on British Law, Justice, Constitutional Rights and Parliament. In Year 13 you will study for 2 exams - Introducing Political Ideologies including topics on Anarchism, Socialism, marxism, Conservatism and Liberalism and Alternative Ideologies covering Feminism, Multiculturalism, Ecologism and Nationalism.
5 A*-C grades including 4 or 5 in Maths and 5 in English Language if part of a Mixed Pathway or 8 A*-C including 4 or 5 in Maths and 5 in English Language if part of a A Level Pathway. B grade in History is also desirable.
5 students from last year's Politics cohort are currently studying Politics at universities including Manchester, Exeter and Newcastle. Politics is a highly regarded A Level and potential careers include Law, Journalism, Consultancy, Teaching, Academia and the Civil Service.
