Applied Science Intermediate Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

This course builds on your knowledge of basic science and develops an insight into scientific principles and practices. You will complete projects and assignment as part of your course, and cover a range of units across the spectrum of biology, chemistry and physics.

Course content

  • Chemistry and the earth

  • Energy and the universe

  • Biology and our environment

  • The living body

  • Crime scene investigation

  • Health applications of science

  • Applications of chemical substances

  • Using mathematical tools in science

You will also learn how to accurately collect and evaluate data, and how to investigate facts and use deduction. Assessment is mainly by coursework.



Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade D or above, including Maths, English and Science.

Future opportunities

You can progress onto Level 3 Applied Science, or enter employment at technician level in a scientific setting.
