Nail Technician Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

This course is designed for those people interested in the nail services industry who wish to learn the craft of nail care, nail art and nail technician work, customer care, self-confidence and professional outlook, which will enable them to progress into full employment as a qualified nail technician.

All practical skills are performed on each other and on practice hand models as part of the learning process and students must be prepared to receive all treatments on a regular basis until competency is reached to work on the paying clientele. Every student must actively generate his or her own clients for adequate amount of practice and assessment.

To become a nail technician you would need: a friendly and welcoming manner, the ability to make clients feel relaxed, tact, diplomacy and the ability to listen and communicate well, the ability to explain procedures clearly to clients, business awareness and the ability to sell products and earn commission and a high standard of personal hygiene and care for your appearance.

  • Nail care
  • Nail art
  • Nail extensions
  • Semi-permanent structures and maintenance

 

Entry requirements

You will need to have 3 GCSE's at grade D or above.

Assessment

The course is continually assessed by practical work in a realistic work environment and by theoretical testing and assignment projects.

Financial information

Enrichment Industry taster workshop sessions and visits to trade shows will incur varied costs during the year.

Nail technician equipment to support learning to be purchased at start of course - this is an extensive array of specialist tools and products, information will be provided. Kits are supplied by mail order, containing nail care, extensions, gels, wraps, foils, polishes, special fx, tools etc

Uniform is necessary.

Future opportunities

On completion of level 2 apprenticeship you may move on to level 3, specialising in advanced nail techniqus in acrylic, gel and fibreglass skills and improve employment prospects within the industry as a specialist nail technician.
