Game and Wildlife Level 2 Diploma at Writtle University College
This course is for those thinking about a career in countryside management, with a leaning towards game management. You will gain an understanding of game species found in the UK, but also learn how to survey other British habitats and undertake practical estate management.
Units of study include: Game Management, Environmental and land-based business, Estate Maintenance, Deer management, Ecology of Trees, Tractor
You will also undertake functional skills in English, an industry recognised qualification. You will also have the opportunity to undertake specialist NPTC or LANTRA courses, which are run through our short courses department.
Entry requirements; four GCSEs at grade A-D with at least one grade C in English, Maths or Science. In addition you must show a keen interest in the countryside and its wildlife.
Each of the units includes pass, merit and distinction criteria. Assessment is through a wide range of methods including practical observation, oral questioning, giving presentations and formal written assessments.
Upon successful completion of your Diploma, you may wish to progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Countryside Management. Alternatively you may prefer to look for employment as an assistant on a game shoot, a countryside ranger or work on an estate.
