ICT Information Creative Technology Level 2 at Wiltshire College
If you are interested in technology, programming, hardware, the internet, web design, games, and graphics then this is the course for you. This course covers a wide range of IT topics in order to open doors to further study in Computing, Games Development and related areas.
Through the study of a variety units you will start to develop the skills required to work in the IT industry.
Unit 1 The Online World
How do websites work? How do emails reach your computer? How does the use of computer applications affect your daily life? This unit provides an introduction to the modern online world.
Unit 2 Technology Systems
Technology systems are involved in many of the objects we use every day, from a laptop computer and routers relaying internet traffic, to logging in to a social networking site. This unit provides a first look at how the main building blocks of technology systems work.
Unit 3 A Digital Portfolio
This unit is your chance to show off! You will learn how to create a digital portfolio that includes a series of web pages with links to content that you have created. You will learn how to make use of multimedia assets such as images, sound and video to make your portfolio appealing and engaging.
You will prepare an application for one job in the IT sector and creative computing industries (e.g. computer games developer or IT technician) demonstrating your technical and employability skills and using your digital portfolio to showcase your achievements. This will also help you decide which skills you should develop further and which career to pursue.
Installing and maintaining computer hardware
In our well-equipped labs you will develop the practical skills required to build and repair computer hardware.
Unit 12 Software Development
You will learn how to design and build simple programs.

You will be assessed through coursework, including a digital portfolio and two external assessments.
Each unit has specified criteria to be used for grading. A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, merit or distinction.
All assessment is subject to Internal Verification and External National Standards Sampling.
