Travel & Tourism Applied A-Level at St Mark's West Essex Catholic School

Course description

Travel and Tourism industries constitute a large component of the world’s economic activity and employment. You will gain an understanding of the industry and how it operates – including travel agents, tour operators, information services and guiding, transportation, attractions, accommodation and Catering. You will also have the opportunity to take part in a number of site visits which will include opportunities to examine and participate in real travel and tourism facilities, products and services. These are an essential part of the course. In some cases your part-time work can be accredited towards part of the Customer Service unit.

You will be subject to continuous assessment based on assignments, which are presented as a portfolio of evidence. Some of the units are externally assessed by examination, some by submitted items similar to coursework, or by short written tasks. You will experience a variety of learning styles. Some units are tackled through team work and some are based on individual research.
