Environmental Conservation Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 at Craven College

Course description

If you’re passionate about the environment and protecting rural and urban landscape, animals, plants and wildlife- the Environmental Conservation Level 2 Apprenticeship is a great starting point in understanding the industry. Upon completion you could go into exciting roles such a ranger, conservation officer or estate worker!

The Environmental Conservation Apprenticeship focuses on practical skills to assist countryside management and community environmental projects. You will learn how to restore, develop and maintain countryside or urban spaces. There is a wide variety of optional units to choose from which will make the Apprenticeship specific to your employment and needs of the environment that you will work within. You will need good communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills and manual dexterity.

Course content

Level 2 Diploma in Environmental Conservation units include:
 
• Construct, Maintain & Repair Stiles 
• Encourage Involvement in Recycling 
• Hedge Laying 
• Introduction to Dry Stone Walling 
• Prepare Sites to Create Habitats 
• Work with & Consult the Local Community  
 
Additional Study 
 
• Functional Skills in Maths & English 
• Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS) 
• Employee Rights & Responsibilities 
• Other industry certificates may be required such as Emergency First Aid etc
 

Entry requirements

  • Employment within the industry 
  • 3 GSES 9-3 (A*-D)

Assessment

An assessor will visit the workplace regularly to assess your competence and to help you build a portfolio of evidence. You will attend college one day per week to complete the Technical Certificate.
