Information Technology Apprenticeship Level 3 at Warwickshire College Group
Apprenticeships are a vocational training programme leading to a series of qualifications. Before you can become an apprentice, you must be employed in a relevant position. Some employers approach Warwickshire College to help recruit apprentices for their vacancies. However, these opportunities are limited and there are not sufficient vacancies to guarantee that all applicants will find work through the college. When you apply for an apprenticeship, you should look for vacancies in your chosen area and apply for any suitable positions you see advertised.
The apprenticeship framework is made up of the following qualifications
- NVQ level 3 IT Professional
- BTec National Award Systems Support
- Functional Skills level 2 Maths
- Functional Skills level 2 English NVQs are work based qualifications that you will complete in your work place.
An assessor will be assigned to help you select the modules which best fit with your work and will visit you regularly to help you compile a portfolio of evidence to show your competence. As the NVQ is tailored to the individual, the time taken to complete your portfolio will depend on how quickly you collect the evidence. Normally, an NVQ will take about 18 months to complete.
The Btec National Award is a classroom based programme. You will cover 6 modules over two years on a day release basis. Assessment is based on written assignments for each module. Functional Skills are assessed by written tests.
