Physics AS/A Level (AQA) at Allerton Grange School
Physicists seek explanation for natural phenomena. This course will suit you if you want to find out how the world around us works, how different systems interact and what fundamental underlying principles govern these interactions. You will need a competent level of English and Maths. It helps if you study AS level Maths but it is not a requirement. To achieve high grades in this course you will need to be hard working and be willing to read around the subject.

Applications are considered on an individual basis but subject areas have their own entry requirements. As a guide you will normally be expected to have achieved a minimum of the following:
Level 3 courses - a good range of GCSEs from grade 4 - 9 including a grade 4 in English and Maths or the equivalent at BTEC level.
Level 2 courses - 2 grade 3s at GCSE
Specific entry requirements for this course are as follows:
You will need a grade 6 or above in GCSE Physics or 6-6 in Combined Science, and GCSE Maths. BTEC Science is not adequate preparation for A level and students with this qualification will not be considered. You will also need at least a grade 5 in GCSE English.
