Accounting Apprenticeship Level 2 at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*

Course description

This level 2 qualification framework from The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) focuses on balancing accounts, invoicing and payments, VAT returns and completing financial statements and reports. A varied apprenticeship, it enables people with minimal experience to gain the knowledge necessary to start their career in Accounting.

Course content

This is a combined qualification which means the knowledge and competence elements are assessed together. This qualification is delivered in college only with the assessor visiting the workplace for progress reviews.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for this qualification consist of an initial assessment of Maths and English as well as an interview with the tutor or course leader.


The Apprenticeship will take a minimum of 12 months to complete. This Apprenticeship is combined and will involve weekly college attendance. All assessment is through online examinations. Progress reviews involving the learner, assessor and employer will take place within the place of employment.

Future opportunities

On completion of the level 2 and with the correct level of employer support, learners can progess to the level 3 Apprenticeship in Accounting.
