Biology - A2 Level at RR6 Wimbledon

Course description

Why study Biology? Biology provides us with a better understanding of ourselves and the world in which we live. It helps us to understand and relate to issues that affect us and the population of the planet as a whole. What topics will I study? Biology and diseases, living organisms, investigative and practical skills (AS), populations and environment and control in cells and organisms. How will I be assessed? Investigative and practical skills are assessed in Units 3 and 6, worth respectively 20% of the AS award and 10% of the full A level award. The remainder of the units will be assessed by written examinations. An example/illustration of the type of work involved: You will: undertake class practical; slide preparation; microscopic diagrams/analysis; field trips; DNA fingerprinting; dissections and coursework.

GCE AS level in Biology

Future opportunities

A Level Biology is required for any medical/pharmaceutical degree course. Future careers could include medicine, sports science, nursing, physiotherapy, chiropractic, or nutritionist, marine science.
