Business - Accounting and Finance - BTEC Level 3 at Halesowen College

Course description

Have you thought about how important money is to a business? How does a business calculate whether it's made a profit or a loss? How does accounting assist managers in making business decisions?

This course will develop your understanding on how important money is to a business. Owners and managers need to keep a close eye on their finances to ensure that enough money is coming in to cover and preferably exceed the amount of money going out. You will learn how to draw up financial records for a business, so that at the end of a year it can work out if it has made a profit or a loss and also calculate what the business is worth.

This is a practical work-related course which will also include a wide range of topics such as Economics, Law, Marketing, Business Ethics and Human Resources. You will examine major businesses such as McDonalds, Amazon, Manchester United, Oxfam, Apple, Tesco and other businesses you will be familiar with.

Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to take part in a number of visits, to help with your knowledge and understanding of business concepts. You will be visiting businesses including Manchester United and Alton Towers.
