Art History: Critical andContextual Studies A Level at Colne Community School

Course description

Your studies will initially focus on developing your knowledge of the history of art, its key periods, movements and artists. You will be encouraged to research and find information of your own to inform individual study and analyse art work both past and present.

As the course progresses specific themes and aspects of art practice will be considered in detail. At Advanced level you will additionally focus on research for your own study of an area of Art History which you are personally interested in, as well as learning about significant art movements in greater depth.

Entry requirements

An enquiring open mind with an interest in art and artists is essential. A GCSE grade ā€˜Cā€™ or above in English or a proven ability to write essays is required. The ability to form and articulate viewpoints after undertaking research in different forms is also vital.
