Fashion BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma at Havering College of Further and Higher Education

Course description

You will work in our studio as you develop an understanding of good design principles and basic fashion skills. You will also work on your critical analysis of visual ideas and materials.

There are 90 credits to be achieved on this course and they will cover the following:

  • Flat Pattern Cutting
  • Pattern Construction
  • Print
  • Fabric Embellishment
  • Fashion Illustration
  • Photoshop

If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).

Entry requirements

  • At least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (including English and maths)
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates a passion for fashion


You will be assessed through written and practical assignments.

Future opportunities

You could progress onto our extended diploma in fashion as this one year course acts as the first year of study for that programme.

Employment opportunities could include a junior position within the fashion industry as a designer, pattern cutter, sample machinist, buyer, or as a journalist.
