Sociology AS & A Level at The Wellington Academy

Course description

Sociology is the study of society and human behaviour. Studying sociology will enable you to discuss social issues in a more informed and systematic way and it will help you to make sense of your own and other people’s experiences.

This AQA specification is part of the first cohort transitioning into the new linear A Level structure, meaning that the AS Level is a stand-alone qualification and doesn’t contribute to the full A Level.

Course content

The AS Sociology specification requires students to examine the study areas of Education including Methods in Context, alongside Culture and Identity.

For the full A Level in Sociology students are re-examined on the components of the AS course, as well as new modules of Crime and Deviance, Mass Media and Sociological Theory.

Entry requirements

5 A*-C at GCSE including English and maths plus subject specific requirements
