Computing A-level at South Essex College

Course description

Year one:

  • develop knowledge and understanding of computer systems
  • principles of computing (including programming)
  • how they are applied to the solution of problems

Year two:

  • understanding of systematic methods such as the use of algorithms and test strategies
  • maintenance of computer systems
  • skills associated with documenting solutions
  • producing computer-based solutions to real problems

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including:

  • English language
  • grade B or above in maths

Assessment

Year one:

  • exams: 100%

Year two:

  • exams: 60%
  • coursework: 40%

FREE to UK/EU under 19s not in employment
