English Language at Blessed George Napier School

Course description

This specification has been designed to:

  • enable you to develop and apply your under-standing of how language works, with emphasis on analysis and study of language,
  • provide opportunities for you to do inde-pendent investigation work related to language in use,
  • enable you to study English from the past to the present day, develop your skills as producers and interpreters of language.

A2 Level Examination

Year 2

Unit 3: Developing Language;

Unit 4: Investigating Language; AS Examination

Year 1: Unit 1: Categorising Texts;

Unit 2: Creating Texts.

Entry requirements

A minimum of five A* - C grades at GCSE is required for all students wishing to enter the Sixth Form and the student should also have gained an A or B grade in the subjects they wish to take.
